Who regulates online casinos in Denmark?
The Danish Gambling Authority (Spillemyndigheden) licenses and supervises gambling, including online casino. Its player section brings together the main tools: the list of licensed providers ("spiludbydere med tilladelse"), the authority's seal for licensed sites, guidance on bonuses and wagering, how to complain, information on illegal gambling and advertising, and links to help services.
Is a foreign online casino legal in Denmark?
An operator needs a Danish licence to offer online casino games to people in Denmark. The licence is national, so a licence from another country does not count. Spillemyndigheden lets you report potentially illegal gambling and advertising.
How to check an operator
- Open Spillemyndigheden's list of licensed providers.
- Find the company and the website address.
- Look for the authority's seal on the site, and follow it to the authority's page rather than trusting an image alone.
Age, identity and ROFUS
- Age 18. The executive order on online casino requires licensed sites to state that people under 18 may not take part (§ 15(1)(1)).
- Documentation. Licensed providers verify your identity and may ask for documents. Spillemyndigheden explains why in its FAQ for players.
- ROFUS. Licensed sites must inform players about the register of voluntarily excluded players (§ 15(1)(6), referring to § 24 of the Gambling Act). ROFUS lets you take a break from gambling with all Danish-licensed providers.
Bonuses and wagering
Spillemyndigheden publishes guidance titled "Tilbud, bonusser og gennemspilskrav" (offers, bonuses and wagering requirements) to help players understand operators' terms.
